Günther Helm - Retrospektive

I do not paint the world that is visible to everyone, but the world in me. I draw my inspiration from the tension between the fascination of life and the threat to nature. In the attempt to trace the secret of being, an abstract, surreal imagery emerges. Painting is my medicine, which helps me to endure the irrationality of people and the frail condition of the world.

Nature and environmental protection have been very important to him since his youth. On many journeys on all continents he was able to observe the threat to creation very clearly. More and more he tried to problematize this development in his pictures.
